From Failure to Success: How Two Cities and One Business Followed a Dream

It has been a lucky year, a big year, for the cities that our businesses reside in. 2018 has been a year of inspiration, hard work, perseverance, and motivation. From the growth of a business to the championships brought home to our cities, we have seen the outcome of this hard work and perseverance come to fruition. The Philadelphia Eagles, for example, were established in 1933. Since that time, their fans have been passionate and inspired, and sometimes even a little intimidating. For more than thirteen decades they’ve been waiting, believing, and hoping.  After watching rivals and conference members alike find success over and over again, the Philadelphia Eagles are finally Super Bowl Champions for the first time. They are a true example of how hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm can help you find success.

A similar story comes this year for the city of Washington, D.C. After 44 years of waiting, the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup, bringing cheer and excitement to the streets of Washington, D.C. and a different kind of energy and morale to a city that could use a little boost. A true tale of success, Captain Alex Ovechkin is a testament to hard work and dedication to not only the sport, but to the Washington Capitals team. Joining the Capitals as the first round draft pick in 2004, Ovechkin was on the team for 14 years before earning his first ever Stanley Cup Championship. Known as one of the best hockey players in the game today, Ovechkin stayed loyal to the Capitals despite their many ups and downs and his many successes as an individual. Ovi could have played anywhere with any team, but remained loyal and true to the Capitals and, more importantly, to the city of Washington, D.C.

With great success, comes the work, sweat, and pain behind it. Our story started with the same ideas. District Taco’s story is a story of motivation, a “never give up” mentality, and a dream that keeps you going. Laid off from his construction job in 2008, Osiris chose the “never give up” mentality and chose to create his own success instead of waiting for it to come to him. Armed with an American Dream, he turned a concept into a successful company that is growing, thriving, and taking on new heights. style=A lesson we can all take from these three examples is that success doesn’t come easy. It isn’t luck and it isn’t fate that gets you where you need to be, it is the work, drive, and passion that takes a dream and turns it into a reality. It takes failure after failure to make something this big happen. Imagine if the backlash and lack of success got to the Eagles or the Capitals. 2018 wouldn’t have been their year. The cities of Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. wouldn’t have had something to celebrate. The waiting and the work might not have been as worth it. The drive wouldn’t have been as hard, and the dream wouldn’t have been as earned. It takes failure and getting knocked down over and over to rise back up again.

The 2018 seasons might be over for the Eagles and the Capitals, but 2018 has just begun for District Taco. With 2 new locations on the way in downtown Philadelphia, PA and Silver Spring, MD, this is just the beginning for us. We are growing faster and more aggressively than ever before. We are creating jobs and opportunities at a more rapid rate. But most importantly, we’re working hard, harder than ever before to achieve the dream - the Super Bowl & Stanley Cup of our world. Without the cities of Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia behind us, supporting us the way that they have supported their teams, we wouldn’t be here as strong and enthusiastically as we are. So here’s to 2018, it’s just getting started!

2018 is going to be our biggest year yet! We're moving closer and closer to our DT dream of being in every city and want you to come along with us!
