It's been a crazy week, but we made it! On Wednesday, February 27th, our Center City location opened in downtown Philadelphia in the new East Market Development. This is our second location in Philadelphia, and we couldn't be more excited about expanding even more into the area!
With a long line out the door, customers began to gather early, as the first 100 in line received a free DT swag bag and free meal! We also partnered with Little Baby's Ice Cream to give out some samples of their vegan Chipotle Chocolate flavor to go with our Mexican food theme! Offering all day breakfast, specialty tacos, and a variety of customizable menu options, we are so excited to finally be open and bring our delicious offerings to the people of downtown Philadelphia.
Per our tradition, all customers who came to visit us on the 27th also contributed to the local community and helped us to make a difference. Partnering with Philabundance, a portion of the days sales went back to the organization. We are thrilled at the opportunity to get involved in our newest community and thank everyone who came by to help us support Philabundance as well! Making a statement from the inside out, we also worked with Glossblack to help bring a touch of Philly to our new restaurant. Glossblack is a Philadelphia based graffiti artist, with a focus on contemporary typographic art and commissioned mural work. Our queue wall now rocks a wordy mural unique to District Taco highlighting some of our favorite menu offerings as well as some of our favorite Philadelphia landmarks and phrases. Up next for District Taco in Philadelphia is our Abington location which will open up later in 2019. In the meantime, we're getting closer and closer to opening location number 14 in Silver Spring, MD in the Blairs development on East West Highway. We will be joining Mamma Lucia, Fox Restaurant Concept's Zinburger (creator of True Food Kitchen), and more.
We are off to an exciting start for 2019 and are excited for our continued expansion! With each new restaurant we get one step closer to fulfilling our dream of taking District Taco into every city!
